OBS Spin Wheel Overlay for Stream Giveaways
A transparent wheel you drop straight into OBS or Streamlabs. No tab sharing, no cropping.
Screen-sharing a browser tab puts address bars, menus and ads on your stream. This overlay renders only the wheel on a transparent background, sized for a 1920×1080 canvas. Build your URL below, paste it into a Browser source, and spin live for your Twitch or Kick giveaway.
1. Build your overlay URL
Tip: for more than ~100 entries, save your wheel and use its link instead so the URL stays short.
2. Copy it into OBS

How to add the wheel to OBS Studio
- In the Sources panel click + and choose Browser.
- Paste your overlay URL into the URL field.
- Set Width to 1920 and Height to 1080, then click OK.
- Optional: tick Control audio via OBS to put the spin sounds on their own mixer track.
- To spin, right-click the source and choose Interact, then click Spin or press Space.
Streamlabs Desktop
- In the scene where you want the wheel, click + in Sources and pick Browser Source.
- Name it (for example "Giveaway wheel"), paste the overlay URL and set the size to 1920 × 1080.
- Leave the background as it is: the page is transparent, so no custom CSS is needed.
- To spin, right-click the source, choose Interact, and click Spin or press Space.
Everything else (sounds, winner banner, removing winners) works the same as in OBS.
Transparent background or chroma key?
OBS Studio and Streamlabs Desktop draw browser sources with real transparency, so the wheel sits on top of your game or camera with nothing around it. That is the default and the best option: edges stay sharp and there is nothing to tune.
Some setups can't do that: streaming apps that capture a browser window rather than using a browser source, hardware switchers, or a second PC that receives the wheel over a capture card. For those, set Background to Green screen in the builder. The page then fills with a solid chroma-key green, and you add a Chroma Key filter (OBS: right-click the source, Filters, +, Chroma Key) to cut it out. Wheel colors include greens, so if slices start disappearing, switch to Magenta screen and set the key color to magenta.
Running a chat giveaway on stream
- Announce the keyword and the rules. For example: "Type !join in chat before 9pm to enter, one entry per person, must be following." Pin the rules in chat.
- Collect entries with your bot. Nightbot, StreamElements, Streamer.bot and Twitch's own tools can collect the names of everyone who typed the keyword. Copy that list when entries close.
- Paste and copy the URL. Paste the names into the builder above (one per line), copy the URL and update the Browser source. For big lists, save a wheel on the main page and use its link instead, so the URL stays short.
- Spin live. Use Interact to spin. The winner banner appears with confetti and hides itself after the delay you chose.
- Prove it. Clip the spin, and for extra trust run the same list on the contest winner picker and post the result link it creates, which shows the list, entry count and time.
There is no built-in chat command that spins the wheel by itself: the person running the stream always presses Spin, which keeps the draw in your hands and stops viewers from spamming spins.
Scene tips
- Give the wheel its own scene (or a nested scene) and switch to it for the draw, so it doesn't sit on your gameplay all stream.
- Use the Size and Position settings instead of stretching the source in OBS. The wheel is drawn at the right resolution and stays sharp.
- Put the spin sounds on their own track by ticking Control audio via OBS, then lower them in the mixer if they're too loud for your mic.
- Several prizes? Turn on "Remove the winner after each spin". Refresh the source (right-click, Refresh) to bring everyone back.
- Test first. Spin a couple of times before going live; the source keeps working through scene switches.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add the spin wheel to OBS Studio?
Build your overlay URL on this page and copy it. In OBS, add a new Browser source, paste the URL, set Width to 1920 and Height to 1080, and click OK. The wheel appears on a transparent background over your scene - no window capture or cropping needed.
How do I spin the wheel while live?
Right-click the Browser source in OBS and choose Interact. Click the Spin button in the centre of the wheel, or press Space or Enter. Your viewers only see the wheel and the winner banner - never the Interact window.
Does it work with Streamlabs Desktop, Twitch Studio and Kick?
Yes. Any streaming app with a Browser source (Streamlabs Desktop, OBS Studio, XSplit, Meld and others) can use the overlay URL, and it works the same whether you stream to Twitch, Kick, YouTube or TikTok Live.
Can I remove each winner automatically for multiple prizes?
Turn on "Remove the winner after each spin". Each winner drops off the wheel so you can keep spinning for 2nd, 3rd and later prizes. Refresh the Browser source to bring every entry back.
My streaming app shows a black or white box instead of a transparent wheel. What do I do?
Some apps and capture setups ignore browser transparency. Choose Green screen in the Background setting, then add a Chroma Key filter to the source in your app. If your wheel has green slices, use Magenta screen and key out magenta instead.
Can viewers enter with a chat command?
Use your chat bot to collect entries: have viewers type a keyword such as !join, then copy the list of names from your bot (most giveaway features, like Nightbot, StreamElements or Streamer.bot, can show or export entrants) and paste it into the builder. Spinning itself is done by you, from the Interact window, so the draw happens on screen.
Is the stream overlay free?
Yes. The overlay is free, needs no account, and shows no ads or branding on your stream.
