Thanksgiving Wheel
Games, gratitude prompts and fair chore picks for Thursday, November 26, 2026
One wheel for the whole day: spin a gratitude question before the meal, settle who carves and who washes up, assign potluck dishes for Friendsgiving and keep the kids' table busy between courses. Pick a ready-made list below or type your own, one entry per line. Every spin is random, so nobody can say the dishes were rigged.
- A person who helped you this year
- A small thing that made you smile
- A skill you learned
- A place you're thankful for
- A meal you'll never forget
- Someone at this table
- A hard moment that taught you something
- A song that got you through the year
Thanksgiving wheel games: how to play
1. Gratitude round (before the meal)
Load "Gratitude prompts". Going around the table, each person spins once and answers the prompt in a sentence or two. Turn on elimination mode in the settings so every prompt comes up only once. With more guests than prompts, add your own: a teacher you remember, a gift that cost nothing, a moment from this year.
2. Chore draw (before anyone sits down)
Load "Dinner chores" and add every adult's name to a second list. Spin the names wheel once for each chore and write the pairs on a sticky note by the sink. Whoever cooked gets left off the names list. Spinning in front of everyone ends the "I did it last year" debate before it starts.
3. Table games (between dinner and pie)
Load "Table games" and spin to choose the next game. Keep each round to ten minutes. For pie charades, act out a pie flavor without words; for the thankful alphabet, go around the table naming something you're thankful for that starts with the next letter, and anyone who stalls for five seconds sits out the round.
4. Friendsgiving potluck assignments
A week ahead, put your guests' names on the wheel and spin once per dish in "Potluck dishes", removing each guest after they are picked so nobody ends up with two. Share the wheel link in your group chat so everyone can see the draw. Swaps are allowed, but only by trading with another guest.
5. Leftover lottery (end of the night)
Write the leftover dishes on the wheel and let each guest spin once for a take-home container. Spin in order of who traveled farthest. If someone lands on a dish they already have, they spin again.
More Thanksgiving wheel ideas
Kids' table challenges
Fill the wheel with quick tasks: draw a turkey with your eyes closed, name five things that are orange, say thank you in another language. Kids spin between courses and earn a sticker for each one.
Football pool squares
Put the names of everyone in the pool on the wheel and spin to fill the grid, one square at a time. It's quicker than drawing numbers from a hat and everyone can watch.
Pie order
Too many pies and one knife? Spin to decide which pie gets cut first, then who gets the first slice of each.
Host gift raffle
Bringing a centerpiece or a bottle to give away? Run the draw on the raffle picker, which is built for giving away prizes with everyone watching.
Plan the December gift exchange
Everyone is in one room, so it's the easiest day to set up the family Secret Santa. The Secret Santa generator draws names privately so nobody gets themselves.
Black Friday plans
Can't agree whether to shop, hike or nap? Put the options on the wheel and let it decide how the long weekend starts.
Thanksgiving wheel questions
When is Thanksgiving 2026?
Thanksgiving in the United States falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026. It is always the fourth Thursday of November. Canadian Thanksgiving was on Monday, October 12, 2026.
How do I make a Thanksgiving chore wheel?
Load the "Dinner chores" list, or type your own chores one per line. Then make a second wheel with everyone's names and spin it once for each chore. Turn on elimination mode so nobody is picked twice until everyone has a job.
Can the same gratitude prompt come up twice?
Not if you turn on elimination mode in the settings. Each prompt is removed after it is picked, so every guest gets a different question.
Can I use this wheel on a TV for a big family dinner?
Yes. Open the page on a laptop connected to the TV, or cast your phone's browser, and use the fullscreen button on the wheel. It works on any device without an app or sign-up.
Is the wheel really random?
Yes. Every spin uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, so each entry has the same chance. You can see the 100,000-spin fairness test on the fairness page.
Can I save my Thanksgiving wheel for next year?
Yes. Use "Save & Share Your Wheel" to get a link that reopens your exact list. Bookmark it and next November your family's chores and prompts are ready.
